For some reason, it doesn't seem as radically beautiful as some were saying it was going to be, but it's pretty decent, considering the size and scope of the levels and the number of enemies zipping about the place.

With as much imagination as went into the decision to just make the game identical to the original in virtually every way, the new engine has been dubbed the Serious Engine 3.0. And so it is in Serious Sam HD, where Croteam have spent a long time spitting on and vigorously polishing their old game, so much so that they created a new engine. Well, it was ambitious only in a geographical sense, because the actual gameplay was exactly the same. I just logged in and claimed the first two days and I can guarantee that tomorrow morning the keys will be all out before they are even supposed to be live.Has It Really been eight years since we first locked, loaded and lobbed bullets around an alternate version of ancient Egypt with that most stern-browed of game heroes, Serious Sam? Ah, there was Serious Sam 2 a few years ago, but that didn't have the impact as the original, despite being more ambitious. I didn't even bother with this for the first two days as I knew getting a key will be impossible because of this and the bots. That's the level of stupidity that has happened in the past on AA. In one event, those in timezones a day ahead of the USA were kept back a day as if to "compensate" so were always a day behind.

What should be straightforward and unlock on say the 23rd at 00.001 UTC for everyone regardless of what time it is locally, doesn't always work out that way as those in timezones ahead of the USA often end up bugged. They unlock on the daily reset each day which is 00.01 UTC. It has nothing to do with needing to log in each day in unlock the next. Some will be on day 3 while others are on day 4. Some days unlock early for some and don't unlock at all for others.

It always happens with these "events" where you log in each day. Unlocks will be available for some but not for others for no discernible reason whatsoever. Then there's the good ol' AA "what's a timezone?" crap. Thousands of keys are usually gone in seconds as the site jams up even if you got in early enough because of the bots.

Good luck to anyone who happens to get one.
